Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers Nominations are in! Chris King, Kyle Southall, and Wes Richardson are the nominees for Position 1 and Position 2 of the Board. Bios for these nominees will be made available at the meeting. The positions will be voted on during the ALATA Town Hall during the annual Clinical Symposia & Members’ Meeting on June 1, 2019 and 12:45 p.m. Eligible voters must be present to vote.

The meeting will be held May 31st-June 1st at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery and will be host to some great presenters! Topics such as syndesmosis surgery and rehabilitation, current trends in concussions, student-athlete mental health, preventing posterior shoulder dislocations, hands-on break-out sessions on the topics of joint reductions and new concussion evaluation techniques, emerging practices in adaptive sports, and much more.

We are especially excited to be hosting Mr. Rod Walters for both of our offered EBP courses this year! He will be presenting on evidence-based EAPs and medical services for collegiate and secondary school programs.

We are especially excited to be offering our first annual Student Symposium the morning of May 31st. This event is open to any students interested in or currently pursuing a degree in athletic training. Information on the transition to the entry-level masters, student-based research presentations, meet-and-great and open discussion with some of our ALATA Hall of Fame members, information from all of the programs in the state on their current or upcoming master’s programs, and a taping competition are a just a few things students will have the opportunity to be involved in during this symposium. Did we mention there will also be free pizza and prizes?!
