A-blast
President's Message:
October 15, 2019
As we are inching closer to the end of the end of the year, I am reminded that this is the time us Athletic Trainers work hard to demonstrate our abilities. One way to accomplish this goal is the recognition gained through the NATA Safe Sports School Award. The mission of this award is to recognize secondary school ATs for their service to the athletic training profession, their schools, and their communities. We at the ALATA would like for all of the secondary school ATs to receive this award and this is why we created the Safe Sports School Award Grant. If you are interested in gaining or maintaining this recognition, please see the information and link to our application below.
Not only do we work hard to own our impact within our clinical practice with our athletes, patients, or clients, but this is also the time we are required to prove our extracurricular hard work with the Board of Certification. I’m sure you have heard this is a reporting year for us Athletic Trainers so please be sure you double and triple check your numbers and you can report 50 CEUs (10 being from EBP). Links to the BOC website can be found below if you are looking for a few extra CEUs (live events or home studies). This is also the time of year to reapply for your Alabama licensure. Information regarding licensure reapplication information and process can also be found below.
Also housed within this issue of the ALATA A-blast, information regarding the ALATA bylaws update proposal and important SEATA information.
As always, please let anyone from the ALATA Executive Council or Committee Chairs know if there is anything, we can do for you.
Your President,

After the EC received numerous questions on the intention and rationale behind a few of the previous bylaw changes we proposed, we decided to re-visit the document to be sure we were making the correct changes for our intention to be properly depicted. We have done just that and feel the current changes are more in line with our vision for the future of the ALATA. Please review the new proposed changes here. We have also developed a rationale document for each of the proposed changes for your review and that can be reviewed here. All of this information can also be found on our website.
We ask that once you have reviewed both documents, please cast your vote here. The deadline for this vote is 11:59 pm Monday, October 28th.
